INAUGURAL INSTALLMENT OF The Web site for Hilton Pond Center for Piedmont Natural History went live on 2 February 2000 and DID see its shadow but--unlike groundhog weather maven Punxsutawney Phil--it WILL be staying up for the remaining six weeks of winter, and for a long time thereafter! :-) Our goal is to offer a weekly photo essay about some interesting plant, animal, or phenomenon at the Center in the hope of encouraging our on-line readers to get out into the world of nature--even if it's "only" in their own backyards. We'll also, when appropriate, share what we discover on our travels away from the Carolina Piedmont. We hope you'll bookmark our main Web page at www.hiltonpond.org; it will always have a link to the latest edition of our "This Week at Hilton Pond" musings. And we're equally hopeful you'll let us know what you think about our photos and commentary, and that you'll share with us your own nature experiences. Happy Nature Watching!
