  • Work on installing underground electrical power at Hilton Pond Center was finally completed at 11:35 a.m. on 14 March. (Details at Hilton Pond Center Gets Environmentally Sensitive Underground Power Installation.)

  • Also on 14 March, a male American Goldfinch (Carduelis tristis) became the 37,000th bird banded at Hilton Pond Center since 1982. The goldfinch (right) was a "calico"--in between losing its drab olive winter feathers and just bringing in the brilliant yellow of its breeding plumage. (Photo © Hilton Pond Center)
