Since 1982 at Hilton Pond Center for Piedmont Natural History, 173 species of Birds (Aves) have been seen or heard on, over, or from the 11-acre property. Of these, 128 species have been captured, banded, and released (28 June 1982 through 20 September 2021). This page contains a complete list of Birds sighted and banded at the Center, along with notations on 27 species known for certain to have nested (N) on the property; known loss of eggs (N*). Captured females with brood patches (BP) and/or recent fledglings (F) imply local nesting at or near Hilton Pond Center. (0) Indicates species not likely to breed in South Carolina Piedmont; (-) indicates breeding status more or less possible but unknown locally. |
